Sport England Sport England is an organisation committed to creating opportunities for people to start in sport, stay in sport and succeed in sport. They provide the strategic lead for sport in England and are responsible for delivering the Government's sporting objectives. Youth Sport Trust The YST mission is to support the education and development of all young people through physical education (PE) and sport . British Association of Advisers and Lecturers in PE BAALPE is an association for advisers, lecturers, inspectors, consultants, advisory teachers and other professionals with qualifications in physical education, sport and dance. It exists to promote and maintain high standards and safe practice on all aspects and at all levels of physical education. It extends professional support to all members through a range of courses and seminars and by providing insurance cover and advice appropriate to their needs. Physical Education Association of the UK The PEA UK offers advice on all matters relating to PE, health and safety and associated professional matters. A quarterly publication The British Journal of Teaching Physical Education is a focus for the professional exchange of ideas and frequently tackles particular themes in education. British Sport Trust - Sports Leaders Association The aim of Sports Leaders UK is to help people discover their potential through sport and provide an opportunity to share those abilities with others. They use sport because it is popular and accessible, but you don't need to be a sports super star to get involved just some get up and go and an interest in helping others. Department for Education and Skills The Department for Education and Skills was established with the purpose of creating opportunity, releasing potential and achieving excellence for all. |
Qualifications and Curriculum Authority The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) is currently working with schools (primary, secondary a nd special) and partnerships across England to explore and develop ways of improving the quality of PE and school sport (PESS). The key aim is to investigate the difference that high quality PE and school sport can make to young people and the impact that this has on their schools. This is the PESS investigation. Office for Standards in Education (OfSTED) Ofsted is a non-ministerial government department established under the Education (Schools) Act 1992 to take responsibility for the inspection of all schools in England, whether state or independent . Their role also includes the inspection of local education authorities , teacher training institutions and youth work .
Big Lottery Direct The Big Lottery Fund brings together the work of two National Lottery distributors: the Community Fund, which provides funding for charities and the voluntary and community sectors, and the New Opportunities Fund, which provides funding for health, education and environment projects.
